Startup Embassy is a residential community of entrepreneurs who believe in their power to change the world. Collectively, they have launched hundreds of companies, raised millions in funding, and run organizations that are changing the world.

Startup Embassy is based in Palo Alto, heart of Silicon Valley.

The community is growing steadily and we need a full time house manager. This person will handle the real day-to-day work of managing Startup Embassy – including being host to our steady stream of guests, managing events, bookings, etc.

We are looking for someone who is incredibly organized and knows how to get shit done. You plan trips 6 months in advance, your Dropbox is organized into sub-folders and color-coded, and your favorite thing is crossing shit off your to-do list. In Sharpie.

More importantly, you deeply value relationships, you’re honest to the point of awkwardness, you do things just because you think they’ll be difficult, and you believe in the power of community to make you better.

Position Details:

  • This is a paid internship position
  • Full time position (*)
  • Estimated start date: As soon as possible
  • Estimated duration from 3 to 6 months
  • Manager has to be proficient in English

 

(*) It’s very important to note that being a house manager is a 24/7 commitment. We’re looking for someone who loves being surrounded by entrepreneurs. Someone who would enjoy sharing long night conversations with like-minded individuals. It’s up to the manager to decide when to have free time. Some days there’s a lot of work to be done as people are getting in and out. Other times there’s plenty of idle time. The manager should be responsible enough to manage his/her time, giving always priority to Startup Embassy.

Positions Responsibilities

They include but are not limited to the following.  You are someone who does whatever it takes to get the job done.

House Manager

  • Collecting and paying rent & bills from all house members on time
  • Managing the house expenses and settling accounts once a month
  • We have a housekeeper that comes twice per week, but you’ll be responsible for having a clean and tidy environment.
  • It will be your responsibility to make sure that the guidelines are being followed, specifically those that foster living in a respectful community
  • Shopping for the house (everything from light bulbs & soap to furniture, towels & sheets, when needed)
  • Managing Airbnb account for Startup Embassy
  • Setting up rooms for arriving guests (clean sheets & towels, welcome note, etc.)
  • Being host to arriving guests
  • Managing SE’s calendar
  • Helping to prepare for and to run weekly events (family dinners, learning events, parties). Includes shopping, coordinating setup & cleanup.
